This is part of my everyday pantry and my Zombie Apocalypse long term storage plan … yes I also have chickens! You have to acquire a taste for this if your expecting it to taste like a juicy all beef hamburger. It does not. It is very appealing in that it requires zero refrigeration even after opening. This is a highly seasoned vegetable substitute than when mixed with real beef will stretch your meat by 2-3 times for much less money. By the time I rehydrate it the cost is less than 2 dollars a pound so that’s a real win. You need to make the burgers thinner and watch the heat on them or they will crisp. I typically add a touch of oil to my pan if I’m trying to make a burger with this. They make great sliders or mix for soups , casseroles etc. I will be keeping quite a lot of this product eventually . It does not crumble they way beef would so keep this in mind. I am not a vegetarian but I am passionate about self-reliance under any conditions so this product makes me very happy. The people at Augason Farms are fantastic to speak with if you ever need any further information. They are not currently shipping directly because their demand is so very high. This product was originally made in a highly religious agricultural community that wanted a method of preparing for hard times of going to the store less frequently. It was life changing for me when I had surgeries during Covid. I highly recommend this product and most Augason Farms products. My only warning is to watch prices very closely because they change rapidly. I now have 4 years of daily data on several sites and it’s been an amazing process to watch the escalation of pricing as well as the discontinuation of some of the best products ever to be made by them. Their taco mix was superlative and hopefully will be brought back as it is better than good. If you talk to Augason let them know!!!
