I bought these clips thinking that I might need them some day. That day came sooner than I expected.I ordered a set of (plastic) “chrome” headlight trim rings for my car, and was disappointed when I found that the original clips wouldn’t hold the trim rings in place. Just a slight bump on the rings, and they flew off (which would no doubt happen during the first road trip, leaving me ring-less).I pulled a clip off the trim ring, and compared it very closely with these “new clips”. I really couldn’t see any difference. They seem to be the same size, made of the same material, and are clearly the same design. My initial impression was that they were probably exactly the same as the “bad clips” that came with the trim rings.So imagine my surprise when I once again pressed the trim rings into place, and the new clips locked right into the hood’s sheet metal, as designed. I was able to get them all to engage with a minimum of effort, leading to a re-installation that felt like I was installing a much higher quality trim ring. After installation, I bumped and banged on the trim rings without them coming loose in any way.Based on reviews I’ve read on trim rings for this car, I’m pretty sure that these new “improved” clips will come in very handy for a lot more DIY wrench-twisters!
