I bought these to put ice cream, fruit puree, or other small quantity treats in. (Trying to avoid eating way too much ice cream at a time by divvying it up before tasting it).I believe these will meet my needs since holding exactly 4 oz isn’t important to me.Upon arrival, I tested one jar by carefully measuring 4 fluid ounces of tap water into it.I found that when the lid is screwed on, that water is mostly touching it.I turned it over and shook it. No leaking.I put it in the freezer and waited some hours. The expansion that occurs as water freezes caused so much pressure the screw lid popped off the threads and was merely sitting on top the ice! Not good if you want your contents contained. So, if you are going to freeze liquid, you need to put a bit less than 4 fluid oz in it. If whatever you are freezing does not expand as much as water, maybe you can get away with it.After removing that ice, I put a little less than 4 fluid ounces in the jar. The lid screwed on well, and it did not leak, so it was not damaged by the previous experiment. I put it in the freezer again and waited. With that little bit of extra space for expansion the lid stayed on.
