Bought two of these for a bedroom. Installation above the window frame was easy with the included brackets. They are not the sleekest design — the battery pack sticks out and the spring-loaded part that allows for in-frame installation is also a little unsightly. But a valance would hide all that. The shades themselves seem reasonably high quality and block out the light well. The motor is slow but I’ve read that’s true for all smart blinds. I’ve not tried other brands so I have no basis for comparison. I was a little surprised that there is a label saying not to pull them down by hand, although I don’t know if that’s the case for all smart blinds or just these. The tradeoff between automation vs. having to wait a bit for them to close is worth it to me. But may not be for others. The more difficult part is setting up the “smart” aspect of these blinds. Setting up the minimum and maximum lengths and setting up one remote to control two blinds simultaneously involves opening up the remotes (which open in a non-intuitive way that made me concerned about breaking them during the opening process) and manipulating with tiny buttons and a toggle switch on the remote’s circuit board. I finally got them working but I had to really pore over the barely adequate instructions to figure it out. I also got to the point of almost giving up on getting the shades to work with google home. The hub (purchased separately) was easy to set up but when I got to the stage of connecting the blinds to the app, the app would hang on the “connecting” screen, suggesting that I would see some response from the blinds that never came. On the verge of giving up, I discovered that the blinds had in fact connected with the app. The app just never notified me of a successful connection. Once connected, the google integration seems to work pretty well although the hub seems to need to be pretty close to the blinds. Even across the room the voice commands (I set up a google automation to control both blinds together) occasionally result in only one of the two blinds responding. The physical remotes in contrast are 100% reliable with both shades.I also found it annoying that the hub did not come with a power supply. You need a USB wall wart to power it.I also discovered that the blinds work equally well with the SmartLife app and the Tuya app, for whatever that’s worth.
