I’m a professional fiber artist – I know wool. Sheeps are my peeps, there’s more wool in my house than most yarn shops have at any given time, etc. etc.I say this so you have some context when I say “this pillowcase is AWESOME and will last FOREVER”.Let’s start with some basics:–it is NOT washable in a machine–it is NOT super soft, you won’t want to put your face on it… at firstDON’T let these two things turn you off. This is not a cheapie decorative piece for your home. You’re not going to need to replace it in a couple of months or years. It will look the same as it does today in 20 or even 50 years from it if cared for properly. It will soften with use and while it’s never going to be baby blanket soft, you’ll be able to use it for a quick nap eventually. The more you use it, the more you break it in (like a pair of real denim jeans), the softer it will become.Wool is really an amazing fiber – it has so many cool properties including being functionally water-resistant. I tested this just so I could show it to you – poured on some water and it mostly rolled right off. 5 minutes later, the water that didn’t roll off was still sitting, nicely beaded on top. What this means for you is stains shouldn’t really be much of a problem unless it gets SOAKED.This case seems to be very well constructed. I fully expect it to still be fresh as a daisy when I’m old and grey. It’s a choice that will LAST.
